A Brief History of the Group

Our group was set up in March 2002 by sufferers of Asbestos related diseases and the families of people who have died from these diseases. The group aims to change the appalling lack of local services and information available to victims and their families.

Our founding member and late chairman, Mr Robbie Brown lobbied to Stormont on a number of occasions to change legislation which helped victims and their families receive the proper compensation and government benefits which they deserved.

We can offer our support network service to victims of Asbestos Related Disease and their families, which includes:

• Advice on Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.
• Practical assistance in the completion of all appropriate paperwork.
• Representation at Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit tribunals.
• Counselling by trained personnel for victims and their families.
• Family support at inquests.
• Drop in centre for sufferers and their families so that they can talk to someone who understands.

Please get in touch as Benefit Counsellor – Monica Nic Giolla Cathain – will be able to help.
